Scott RolfeI am a Maine-born artist who has lived in Austin, Texas for over 20 years. I work in various media, including illustration, assemblage, mixed media, and digital art, as well as graphic design.

My eyes are always open for art possibilities in the discarded; broken household appliances, rusty metal, forgotten toys. These unwanted objects come to life in my art with their own unique personalities, from eccentric animals to dilapidated machines.

In fact, animals seem to be a perennial theme. Whether they are illustrated or assembled, various creatures manage to creep, fly, stomp and swim their way into my artwork.

Breakdown and entropy are themes in my more abstract works: Machines run down, order becomes undone. Decay creeps in. It’s not a negative thing, but rather part of a natural cycle.
